What is official interpreting? This is a type of interpreting that is normally required in lawsuits, for contracts signed before a Notary, and any other official situation that requires specific certification that guarantees that all the parties concerned have understood what has been said.
Official interpreting is carried out by a sworn translator recognised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who then signs and stamps the interpretation. A sworn translator is also known as an official translator.
Official interpreting is usually consecutive interpretation, that is, the interpreter translates what the speaker has said, once he has finished speaking.
